About Our School

The Alagappa Schools had its inception in M.Ct.M. Preparatory school in 1954. Declared open by the then Governor of Madras Shri S. Prakasa, the school was nurtured by the Asoka Trust under the aegis of Padma Bhushan Dr. RM. Alagappa Chettiar. In 1982 it was upgraded into a high school and in 1989 into a Higher Secondary school through the initiative of Dr. Mrs. Umayal Ramanathan, the distinguished daughter of Dr. RM. Alagappa Chettiar. Our Trustee Rm. Vairavan, is keen on taking all efforts to make the institution a land mark in Chennai. Few Words About Our PADMA BHUSHAN DR. ALAGAPPA CHETTIAR

Service to Education

Padmabhushan Dr.Alagappa Chettiar was a great Philanthropist, eminent educationist and a multi-faceted versatile personality. Born on 6th April, 1909 as second son of Shri K.V.AL.Ramanathan Chettiar and Umayal Achi at Kottaiyur of Sivagangai District, in Tamilnadu.

To bring prominence to the educational institutions he had the vision to convince Prime Minister Nehru to house one of the Governments National Research Institutes in the Alagappa campus. Dr. Radhakrishnan, the President of India saidat the opening of the Central Electro Chemical Research Institute (CECRI) on 14 Jan 1953.

Alagappa Interact Club - Joy of Giving & Sharing

Alagappa Interact club students visited Sevalaya in Thirunindravur where around 2000 underprivileged students, orphans are studying 70 old age citizens and a gowsalya were there. We contributed 250kg of rice, 25kg each of toor and urad dhal, 35 litres of cooking oil, 55kg of atta and many. It was a good experience for the students. It was real joy of giving and sharing.

Our student Logeswaran of class XII D representing Tamilnadu U-17 won gold medal in long jump (7.23 mts) at 65th National school games athletics meet held at Sangrur, Punjab on 05 Dec 2019.

Students of class std 11 and 12 (BIOLOGY GROUP) of Alagappa schools visited Adyar Eco Park for field trip on 19.11.2019 (TUESDAY). It was an excellent learning of Ecosystem and Biosphere reserve. Nearly 60 students and 2 staff of Alagappa schools benefited from the project work based field trip to Adyar.

SGFI conducted 64th School Games National Badminton Championship tournament at Andhra Pradesh and Kakinada. Nisha of IX - C won Rs 1,50,000 cash award in the individual and team event (State Championship Runner up) Girls under 15.
